Driving through the countryside near Maryville, it’s surprising to come upon a basilica in the rural landscape. The beautifully renovated basilica, which dates to 1891, is the center-point of Conception Abbey’s lovingly attended grounds that include a lake and walking trail. The Benedictine monks of the Abbey are warm and welcoming to visitors and encourage personal retreats, offering “simple accommodations in an atmosphere of quiet, perfect for private prayer and reflection.”
