This locally owned market in Westport operates with a philosophy of reusing and recycling as an art form. They open their doors the weekend of the first Friday of each month after “a dozen hunter-gatherer-artists have spent the month combing the urban core for wonderful finds” including vintage furniture and textiles and architectural salvage. If you like the idea of reusing rather than buying new but don’t have time to do the “combing” yourself, you might give this market a try.

The creativity in this family-run children’s bookstore practically pours out onto the sidewalk. It’s rare to feel more alive walking out of a store than you did walking in! Debbie and Pete are raising a beautiful family among the bookshelves and somehow find the time and energy to put together a constantly changing set of activities and programs that enrich the metropolitan community.
